BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn State catcher Jessica Crum and Alabama A&M pitcher Caitlin Hayden have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for their outstanding performance in competition from Feb. 15-19

Crum hit an impressive .632 in Alcorn State’s six games this past week, collecting 12 hits on 19 at-bats with 10 RBI, seven runs scored, three doubles and two home runs. She had three straight games of three RBI during this stretch (vs. Kentucky State, Morehead State and Buffalo) and either scored a run or had a hit in each contest.

Hayden made two starts this past weekend at Tennessee State’s Tiger Classic, going 1-1 in those games. She pitched 13 innings — including a complete game win over host Tennessee State — and allowed nine hits while striking out nine hitters. She allowed seven runs, but none of them were earned. Her performance allowed her to lower her ERA from 2.70 to 1.80 on the season.
