HBCU Sports: Garcia Resigns as Prairie View A&M Soccer Coach

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Roger “Abe” Garcia has resigned as head soccer coach at Prairie View A&M University, effective immediately.

 In 10 seasons as head coach, Garcia led the Panthers to one NCAA Tournament appearance, two trips to the SWAC Tournament Championship match, and six trips to the semifinals as the Lady Panthers earned a trip to the SWAC postseason tournament every year. During his tenure, he coached players that earned 27 All-SWAC honors and 13 all-tournament team accolades.
“We thank Coach Garcia for his efforts and contributions to Prairie View A&M University,” Vice President / Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson said. “He took a young program and worked tirelessly to brand it in the community and established it as one that annually earned a berth to the postseason while graduating student-athletes at a high level. We wish Coach Garcia well in his future endeavors.”
A nationwide search will begin immediately.
