Strathmore Obtains GBAC Star™ Disinfection Accreditation

Certification requires stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and disease prevention

(North Bethesda, MD)- Strathmore has achieved Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities. Under the guidance of GBAC, a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, Strathmore has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention in all of its facilities including the Music Center, The Mansion at Strathmore, and AMP by Strathmore.

“GBAC STAR accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “By taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR, Strathmore has received third-party validation that it follows strict protocols for biorisk situations, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely.”

GBAC helps organizations and businesses like Strathmore to prepare for, respond to, and recover from biological threats, and biohazard situations and real-time crises. They offer education, training, certification, response management, and crisis consulting for situations where environments require a much higher level of cleaning, disinfection, and restoration.

“We hope this important accreditation gives our patrons, guests, and team members greater peace of mind as we open our facility to full concerts and events this fall,” said Monica Jeffries Hazangeles, Strathmore President and CEO. “We are proud to have achieved this extra level of certification and look forward to bringing our community together with the arts once again.”

To achieve GBAC STAR™ accreditation, Strathmore was required to demonstrate compliance with the program’s 20 core elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures.
