Graduate senior Evelyn Buehlman (Ellicott City, MD) earned the complete-game win in game one, pitching seven innings allowing five hits, and striking out four. Graduate senior Aseyah Alexander (Silver Spring, MD) led the team on offense, driving home a run on a double and triple while freshman Alyssa Cloutier (Derwood, MD) tallied three runs to help the Bulldogs to the victory.

Game One: Bowie State 5, Goldey-Beacom 3
GBC took the lead early in the first game on a throwing error by Bowie State in the second inning. The Bulldogs responded in the third. Freshman Brittany Brewer () singled, followed by a double from senior Shanya Gordon (Elkridge, MD) to give BSU a 3-1 lead heading into the fourth.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Cloutier scored after being walked but the Lightening picked up two runs to pull within one (4-3) at the end of five.
The Bulldogs added one more in the seventh thanks to a double from Buehlman as she kept GBC off the board for the rest of the game, earning her fourth win of the season.
Game Two: Bowie State 12, Goldey-Beacom 13
Goldey-Beacom grabbed the lead in the first inning, scoring eight total runs on six hits. Bowie State tacked on four runs in the third to close the game to four but the Lightening responded with three more to extend their lead 11-4 after three complete.
The Bulldog’s hot bats continued in the fourth and fifth, combining for six runs on five hits to cut the deficit to 11-10 but GBC added a run in the sixth on a sacrifice bunt. Bowie State tied the game at 12-apiece credited by a single from freshman Aliyah Smith (Stafford, Va) that brought home Cloutier and a single from junior Akirra Pullen (Baltimore, MD) that pushed for Alexander to come home. However, a single to left field provided GBC with the game-winner and the game’s final run.
Bowie State used three different pitchers but Pullen suffered the loss in the circle, allowing five hits and striking out one. Freshman Breanna Harvey (York, PA) finished 4-of-5 at the plate with an RBI while Cloutier recorded four total runs and was 2-of-3 at-bat.
Bowie State will look ahead and begin conference play at the CIAA Round-Up hosted by Shaw and Saint Augustine’s Thursday, Mar. 24 through Saturday, Mar. 26 at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, N.C.
