Ladies, if you’re good and grown you’ve already been there, you already know the type: he’s your brand of tall dark and handsome the chemistry is crazy and you can’t get enough…unfortunately, other women can’t either, and he doesn’t seem to mind the extra attention. You’re thinking he’s the one, and he’s fine with you and three others. The time comes when you’re tired of the games and his insulting your intelligence, that’s when you call them out and that’s what Galveston TX native, singer and songwriter Tanya Nolan encapsulates in her latest mid-tempo stepper-ready single, “Reckless.”
With an effusive soprano that’s taken her to the top of the Adult Billboard charts and will have her featured with Keyshia Cole, Major and Babyface himself next month at a show in Houston, Tanya sings about finally having it up to here with a good looking no good man who thinks her heart and their relationship is an expendable plaything: “Running around town, everyone you see/you never got time, no time for me. Sooner or later, I’m going to get tired/of being by myself.”
“You know, tricks are for kids and I’m a grown woman,” Nolan asserts toward the end——no pining or aching for a man who won’t do right, there is resolve in her voice and a pep in her step as she warns him that his days are numbered, if he has that long, and he’s about to watch her from behind.
Slipping “Reckless” into the playlist, as well as finding previous gems to better acquaint yourself with Tanya’s artistry, it’s probably one of the easiest ways to create a fall treat for yourself as we continue navigating This Thing called Life. If you’ve been there before, you’ll be singing along before you know it and if you haven’t yet, consider Tanya Nolan’s “Reckless” the blueprint on how to keep it cute the next time a guy wants to play stupid games and win stupid prizes instead of doing what it takes to guard your heart.
